Practical mechanical design, with the whole process in mind.
Mechanical is a new service for MEDL. Mechanical thinking isn’t.
We’ve always considered the mechanical side of a scheme as part of our electrical design.
Now, with dedicated mechanical capability in the team, we can take that thinking further, developing practical mechanical designs alongside the electrical, from the outset.

Mechanical System Design
Practical mechanical systems developed around the needs of the process, the site and the people who will operate and maintain them.

Pumping & Process Equipment
From pumps and valves to packaged equipment and ancillary systems, we develop designs around how the plant needs to perform in practice.

Pipework & Layout Design
We develop pipework routes and equipment layouts with access, maintenance, constructability and the wider site arrangement in mind.

Detailed Design & Documentation
From layouts and schedules to specifications and equipment information, we produce the detail needed to take a mechanical design through to delivery.
Our Process
Designs you can build on.
It’s more than a tagline. It’s how we approach mechanical design – understand what it needs to do, work out how it needs to work, and make sure it can actually be built.
What’s it got to do?
Start with the process, not the drawing.
We get clear on what the system needs to achieve, how it needs to operate and the equipment involved before getting into the detail.
How’s it going to work?
This is where the engineering happens.
Equipment, pipework, access, interfaces and the electrical design all come together, working through the detail and resolving the awkward bits before they reach site.
Can you actually build it?
Because a good design has to work somewhere other than a screen.
We think about installation, access, operation and maintenance throughout the design, producing information that makes sense to the people who ultimately have to build and use it.
