Digital engineering helps us understand what’s there, what we’re designing and how everything fits together.
From scanning an existing site to building a coordinated 3D model, our digital service gives everyone a clearer view of the project and helps you work through the detail before it reaches site.

3D LASER SCANNING & REALITY CAPTURE
Start with a better understanding of what’s already there.
We capture existing sites and assets to create accurate point-cloud information, giving our engineers a reliable digital starting point for design.

BIM & 3D
MODELLING
Develop the design in three dimensions.
We create coordinated BIM models across Electrical, Mechanical and Civil disciplines, making complex engineering easier to understand, review and develop.

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY COORDINATION
Bring the whole design together.
By coordinating engineering models digitally, we can identify clashes and interface issues earlier, before they become problems on site.

COMMON DATA ENVIRONMENTS
The right information, in the right place.
Using Autodesk Construction Cloud and Common Data Environment workflows, we keep project information controlled, coordinated and accessible to the people who need it.
Our Process
For us, digital engineering isn’t a separate exercise carried out after the design is complete. It’s part of how MEDL delivers projects, connecting our disciplines, improving collaboration and helping our engineers make better-informed decisions.
Capture & Understand
We start by understanding the site, the existing assets and what the project needs. Where useful, we can use 3D laser scanning and point clouds to create an accurate picture of what’s already there.
Model & Coordinate
We bring the project into a digital environment, developing 3D models and engineering information alongside our Electrical, Mechanical and Civil teams. This helps us coordinate the design, work through interfaces and spot potential issues early.
Share & Deliver
We turn the coordinated design into clear, useful project information: from models and drawings, to shared information within the project CDE. Helping everyone stay on the same page as the project moves forward.
